Getting to La Plata

The city of La Plata is located about 60 km south of Buenos Aires.

International travelers usually arrive at one of the following airports:

  • Ministro Pistarini International Airport (EZE), located near Buenos Aires. Most international flights arrive here.
  • Aeroparque Jorge Newbery (AEP), located within the city of Buenos Aires. Some regional flights from neighboring countries arrive here.

From Ezeiza Airport (EZE)

By Car or Taxi

The distance between Ezeiza Airport and La Plata is approximately 60 km.

The route typically follows the Autopista Buenos Aires–La Plata.

From Jorge Newbery Airport (AEP)

By Car or Taxi

From Aeroparque Jorge Newbery, the trip to La Plata takes approximately one hour, depending on traffic.

Official BA City taxis are available at the airport. Tickets can be purchased in the National Arrivals sector.

Also Uber operates in Buenos Aires and can also be used for transportation.

By Bus

Shuttle buses from the airport to different parts of Buenos Aires are operated by Manuel Tienda León.

If you prefer to travel to La Plata by bus:

  1. Take a taxi or shuttle to Retiro Bus Terminal
  2. From there, take Bus 195, which goes directly to La Plata

From Buenos Aires to La Plata

Buenos Aires and La Plata are well connected by public transportation.

Bus

Regular buses run from downtown Buenos Aires and Retiro Bus Terminal to the La Plata Bus Terminal.

Travel time: approximately 1 hour.

Train

It is also possible to reach La Plata by train from Buenos Aires via the Roca Line.

Public Transportation (SUBE Card)

If you plan to use public transportation in Argentina (buses, trains, or the subway), you will need a SUBE card.

Where to Get a SUBE Card

You can purchase a SUBE card at:

  • Official SUBE centers
  • Kiosks and convenience stores (look for the SUBE sign)
  • Train and subway stations
  • Some tourist information centers

Using the Card

When boarding a bus, train, or subway, simply tap the card on the reader, and the correct fare will be automatically deducted.
