Symposium: Cryo-electron microscopy and its impact on protein science

Chairs: Dr. Lisandro H. Otero and Dr. Mariano Dellarole

Cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM) has rapidly become a transformative tool in structural biology, allowing us to resolve complex protein structures and dynamics with unprecedented detail. Its potential to advance our understanding of biological systems and support drug discovery is immense. In South America, the field is steadily growing, but important challenges remain, particularly in access to infrastructure, training, and resources. This highlights the need to strengthen regional collaboration and build a more connected scientific community. This symposium aims not only to showcase exciting research, but also to promote collaboration and collective efforts to advance cryo-EM in the region.
