Graduate and Convention Centre<\/strong> Sergio Karakachoff - National University of La Plata\u00a0 <\/strong><\/p>\n

The Sergio Karakachoff building of the National University of La Plata, is located in the central block of 48th street between 6th and 7th, at the heart of the commercial centre of the city of La Plata.<\/p>\n

The building complex currently houses a Postgraduate campus with a total of 60 classrooms, available to all the faculties, an Art Centre without equal in the region, a cafeteria, and administrative offices.<\/p>\n

With a total area of 2,776 square meters and a total simultaneous capacity of over 2,000 people, the brand new Convention Centre includes 3 auditoriums with capacity for 300, 225 and 130 people respectively, 7 large classrooms for 125 people, 7 classrooms with capacity for 65 and a meeting room for 20 people.<\/p>\n

There are 17 rooms in total, all with acoustic treatment to guarantee high sound quality, and equipped with closed audio and video systems that can be operated from a PC, with the ability to play content directly from a Smartphone. In addition, it offers both wired and wireless internet connection.<\/p>\n

The Karakachoff building was declared of Municipal Interest by the local Council and, together with the Bicentennial Walkway, represents one of the most ambitious architectural interventions that have been developed in the city.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t

Use of SUBE (Single Electronic Ticket System) Card:<\/b><\/p>\n

Dear Attendees, any public transport including local bus lines, trains, subways (that can take you from the Airport to the Retiro Bus Terminal in Buenos Aires City, and from there intercity buses which can transport you to La Plata City), must be paid with the \u201cSUBE\u201d Magnetic Card.<\/p>\n

\u2013 What is the SUBE card?<\/b><\/p>\n

The Single Electronic Ticket System (SUBE) was implemented for paying trips on buses, subways, trains and river transport with a single card.<\/p>\n

\u2013 How do I get the SUBE card?<\/b><\/p>\n

You can buy it in any of the authorised centers (https:\/\/Tarjetasube.sube.gob.ar\/subeweb\/WebForms\/admin\/views\/mapa-sube.aspx?id=1<\/a><\/u><\/span>). You can also purchase it at the SUBE points in the airports, some subway vendors in Buenos Aires city and La Plata city, or in shops tagged with the card logo.<\/p>\n

\u2013 How much does the SUBE card cost?<\/b><\/p>\n

The card costs ARS$100 approximately. Once you have purchased the card you must load money in it (you can do this in the same place where you bought the card) to be able to purchase the required transport service. The fare<\/b> for the intercity bus lines that go from Buenos Aires City to La Plata<\/b> (either \u201cMisi\u00f3n Buenos Aires\u201d or \u201cCostera Metropolitana\u201d) is approximately ARS$120<\/b>.<\/p>\n

\u2013 Can I obtain the SUBE card If I am a foreigner?<\/b><\/p>\n

Yes, you can! (see \u201c<\/b>How do I get the SUBE card?\u201d<\/b>).<\/p>\n

\u2013 Can I be charged an additional fee for loading money in the card?<\/b><\/p>\n

Even though the service for loading money in your card is free, some stores charge an average of ARG$10 for recharging your card. Alternatively, you can download the following App, where you can administer and load your SUBE card: https:\/\/www.argentina.gob.ar\/sube\/carga-sube-beta<\/a><\/u><\/span><\/p>\n

\u2013 Where should I place the card when I want to travel?<\/b><\/p>\n

How can you go to La Plata City from the Airport?<\/b><\/p>\n

Dear Attendants, we want to help you to arrive safely to La Plata City, so, here are some useful tips for you.<\/p>\n

Check out your flight ticket to see which airport you will arrive at. There are two options: you can either arrive at the Ezeiza International Airport (EZE)<\/b> or at Jorge Newbery Airport<\/b> (AEP<\/b>). On the basis of that, there are various options to travel to La Plata City:<\/p>\n

\u2013 If you arrive at Ezeiza International Airport (EZE; about 25 km from Buenos Aires City) check out the following website: https:\/\/www.rome2rio.com\/es\/map\/Aeropuerto-Ezeiza-EZE\/La-Plata<\/a><\/u><\/span><\/p>\n

-If you arrive at Jorge Newbery Airport (AEP; which is in Buenos Aires City), check out the following options: https:\/\/www.rome2rio.com\/es\/map\/Aeropuerto-Buenos-Aires-Jorge-Newbery-AEP\/La-Plata<\/a><\/u><\/span><\/p>\n

-At the airport there are many taxis that you can take near the \u201cArrivals\u201d area. We recommend you previously check the fares on the internet the same day you arrive to make sure you are not being overcharged.<\/p>\n

\u2013 There are also car rental services at both airports, but we recommend booking in advance. Here we share a link, but there may be others that better fit your needs: https:\/\/www.expedia.com.ar\/Alquiler-De-Autos-Ezeiza.d6144399.Guia-de-Autos<\/a><\/u><\/span><\/p>\n

\u2013 There is a popular transport company called Tienda Le\u00f3n<\/b> (https:\/\/www.tiendaleon.com\/<\/a><\/u><\/span>) that offers transportation from Ezeiza airport directly to La Plata City, but we recommend you book in advance and make sure their transport schedule coincides with your flight (they don\u2019t have many timetables). However, for those who arrive at Jorge Newbery Airport, Tienda Le\u00f3n can take you to its terminal in Puerto Madero (see red rectangle). This place is very close (200 mts.) to the Alem Avenue (see yellow rectangle) and the Retiro Bus Terminal (where you can take an intercity bus to La Plata; see \u201cHow much does the SUBE card cost?\u201d<\/b>). 1) BY BUS:<\/b><\/p>\n

Tienda Le\u00f3n (see above) also has a Terminal in Puerto Madero, from where you can access the Metrobus<\/b>, a central walkway in the middle of big avenues like \u201cAlem Avenue\u201d or \u201c9 de Julio Avenue\u201d (10 blocks \u2013 1000 mts - from Puerto Madero Terminal), where intercity bus stops are located.<\/p>\n

As we explained above, there are two intercity bus companies that go to La Plata:<\/p>\n

- Misi\u00f3n Buenos Aires<\/b>, which leaves from the Metrobus located at the front door of the Retiro Bus Terminal, with several stops along \u201c9 de Julio Avenue\u201d.<\/p>\n

- Costera Metropolitana<\/b>, which crosses the \u201cAlem Avenue\u201d. Please look at the map (above) where one of the Costera Metropolitana bus stops is indicated with a blue circle.<\/p>\n

Sometimes, for different reasons (street repairs, manifestations, etc.), bus stops might temporally change places. Just to make sure, we recommend you ask passersby where the temporary bus stop is.<\/p>\n

And one last tip: when you get on the bus ask the driver if that unit goes to La Plata, because Metrobus has doble runway and you might be heading in the wrong direction.<\/p>\n

2) BY TRAIN:<\/b><\/p>\n

\u2013 If you prefer to come to La Plata by train<\/b>, you must go to Plaza Constituci\u00f3n train Station<\/b> (Buenos Aires City \u2013 Constituci\u00f3n-La Plata ramal). The train leaves from there and its final stop is La Plata. You can check out information on fees (it is by far the cheapest choice<\/b>) and schedules on this web site: https:\/\/www.argentina.gob.ar\/transporte\/trenes-argentinos\/horarios-tarifas-y-recorridos-de-trenes\/pza-constitucion-la-plata<\/a><\/u><\/span><\/p>\n

\u2013 To get to the Plaza Constituci\u00f3n train station from the Retiro Bus Terminal, you can do so by subway (line C<\/b>), but depending on where your journey begins, you can also make combinations with different subway lines.
