Abstracts can only be submitted <\/b><\/span>after registering to LA SOVE 2022<\/b><\/u><\/span>, and the only person entitled to do so is the author who will present it. <\/span><\/p>\n

Once you have finished preparing the abstract, send it by email to <\/strong>lasove2022@gmail.com<\/strong><\/a>. In the email subject please indicate the topic, the approach, your name and surname in the following way<\/u>: topic<\/strong> number (number 1 to 10), underscore, approach<\/strong> number (1 to 4), underscore, surname of the presenting author, underscore, and full names. For example, 1_3_P\u00e9rez_Ana Bel\u00e9n corresponds to the abstract sent for topic 1 -Chagas-, approach 3 -Vector-pathogen interaction-, by P\u00e9rez Ana Bel\u00e9n.<\/p>\n

If the same author sends more than one abstract as first author (maximum of two abstracts per<\/em> author who has registered<\/strong>), this must be indicated in the subject by using the corresponding number after the name\/s and an underscore. For example, 1_3_P\u00e9rez_Ana Bel\u00e9n_2 indicates that this author has attached 2 abstracts for review.<\/p>\n

Abstracts will be evaluated by peers designated by the Scientific Committee. If changes must be made, the authors will have <\/span>three<\/i><\/span><\/strong> (3) working days<\/strong> after receiving the revised version, to send the corrected version for its review. Once the abstract has been accepted it cannot be modified.<\/span><\/p>\n

Accepted abstracts will be published in the digital Abstract Book of the <\/span>II Congress of the Latin American Society for Vector Ecology<\/i><\/span> (LA SOVE 2022).<\/span><\/p>\n

The central theme of the LA SOVE 2022 scientific program, <\/span>\u00ab<\/b><\/span>Control of endemic zoonotic and vector-borne, emerging and re-emerging diseases: Current challenges in Latin America<\/b><\/i><\/span>\u00ab<\/b><\/span>, includes the following neglected zoonotic and vector-borne diseases (<\/span>topics<\/b><\/span>), which are particularly relevant in Latin America: <\/span><\/p>\n

1) Chagas; <\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

2) Mosquito-borne Diseases (dengue, malaria, yellow fever, zika, chikungunya); <\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

3) Leishmaniasis; <\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

4) Tick-borne Diseases (<\/b><\/span>Rickettsia<\/b><\/i><\/span>, <\/b><\/span>Ehrlichia<\/b><\/i><\/span>, <\/b><\/span>Borrelia<\/b><\/i><\/span>); <\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

5) Viral Haemorrhagic Fevers (Hantavirus); <\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

6) Leptospirosis; <\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

7) Rabies; <\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

8) Hydatidosis \/ Cystic Echinococcosis. <\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

Other topics of regional importance have also been included:<\/p>\n

9) Insect vectors of plant diseases; <\/strong><\/p>\n

10) Arthropod-borne diseases of veterinary importance;<\/strong><\/p>\n

11) Genetically modified insects for use in agriculture, livestock, and poultry;
\n<\/strong><\/p>\n

12) Vector resistance to pesticides used in Public Health;<\/strong><\/p>\n

13) Integrating Approaches for Vector Control; and
\n<\/strong><\/p>\n

14)<\/strong> Challenges and Perspectives to Address Some Neglected Diseases.<\/strong><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Topics 1) to 14) will be addressed through the following <\/span>approaches<\/b><\/span>: <\/span><\/p>\n

1. Impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, wildfires and habitat fragmentation on zoonotic and vector-borne diseases; <\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

2. Vector biology and eco-epidemiology; <\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

3. Vector-pathogen interaction; and <\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

4. Vector control and surveillance including a) new surveillance and vector control alternatives, and b) insecticide resistance.<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

Authors must indicate the chosen <\/span>topic<\/b><\/span> (1 to 10)<\/b><\/span> and <\/span>approach<\/b><\/span> (1. to 4.)<\/b><\/span> for each abstract. The Scientific Committee may change the approach depending on the program, in which case the authors will be informed with sufficient notice.<\/span><\/p>\n

TURBO TALKS (Short Oral Presentations)<\/u><\/strong>:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Accepted<\/u><\/strong> abstracts will be presented as turbo talks (short oral presentations). <\/strong><\/p>\n

For this, each author must prepare a short video (5 minutes maximum) in which she\/he will explain (i.e., talk about<\/em>) their work using slides. Each video must be prepared before the Congress starts (we will post the deadline shortly) because it will be uploaded to the cloud and will be available (exclusively) for participants who have registered once the congress has started and for its entire duration.<\/p>\n

Authors who assist in person<\/strong><\/em>, will be assigned a day and time for presenting their work based on the video they have sent (5 minutes maximum<\/strong>) and, at the end of the presentations programmed for that session, there will be 10-15 minutes for questions and discussion with the (in person and virtual) public.<\/p>\n

Turbo talk videos will be uploaded to the cloud and will be sorted according to topic. Every video will have the option for participants to make comments and\/or questions to the authors.<\/p>\n

When preparing the videos the presenting author may speak in Spanish, Portuguese, or English, but the slides must be written in English and preferably subtitled (in English)<\/u>.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The video must be prepared with the usual programs used for preparing presentations (such as Power Point, Prezi, etc.).<\/p>\n
