For example, 1_3_P\u00e9rez_Ana Bel\u00e9n corresponds to the abstract sent for topic 1 -Chagas-, approach 3 -Vector-pathogen interaction-, by P\u00e9rez Ana Bel\u00e9n.<\/p>\n<p>If the same author sends more than one abstract as first author (<strong>maximum of two abstracts <em>per<\/em> author who has registered<\/strong>), this must be indicated in the subject by using the corresponding number after the name\/s and an underscore. For example, 1_3_P\u00e9rez_Ana Bel\u00e9n_2 indicates that this author has attached 2 abstracts for review.<\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"en-GB\">Abstracts will be evaluated by peers designated by the Scientific Committee. If changes must be made, the authors will have <\/span><strong><span lang=\"en-GB\"><i>three<\/i><\/span><\/strong><span lang=\"en-GB\"><strong> (3) working days<\/strong> after receiving the revised version, to send the corrected version for its review. Once the abstract has been accepted it cannot be modified.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"en-GB\">Accepted abstracts will be published in the digital Abstract Book of the <\/span><span lang=\"en-GB\"><i>II Congress of the Latin American Society for Vector Ecology<\/i><\/span><span lang=\"en-GB\"> (LA SOVE 2022).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"en-GB\">The central theme of the LA SOVE 2022 scientific program, <\/span><span lang=\"en-GB\"><b>\u00ab<\/b><\/span><span lang=\"en-GB\"><i><b>Control of endemic zoonotic and vector-borne, emerging and re-emerging diseases: Current challenges in Latin America<\/b><\/i><\/span><span lang=\"en-GB\"><b>\u00ab<\/b><\/span><span lang=\"en-GB\">, includes the following neglected zoonotic and vector-borne diseases (<\/span><span lang=\"en-GB\"><b>topics<\/b><\/span><span lang=\"en-GB\">), which are particularly relevant in Latin America: <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"en-GB\"><b>1) Chagas; <\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"en-GB\"><b>2) Mosquito-borne Diseases (dengue, malaria, yellow fever, zika, chikungunya); <\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"en-GB\"><b>3) Leishmaniasis; <\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"en-GB\"><b>4) Tick-borne Diseases (<\/b><\/span><span lang=\"en-GB\"><i><b>Rickettsia<\/b><\/i><\/span><span lang=\"en-GB\"><b>, <\/b><\/span><span lang=\"en-GB\"><i><b>Ehrlichia<\/b><\/i><\/span><span lang=\"en-GB\"><b>, <\/b><\/span><span lang=\"en-GB\"><i><b>Borrelia<\/b><\/i><\/span><span lang=\"en-GB\"><b>); <\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"en-GB\"><b>5) Viral Haemorrhagic Fevers (Hantavirus); <\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"en-GB\"><b>6) Leptospirosis; <\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"en-GB\"><b>7) Rabies; <\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"en-GB\"><b>8) Hydatidosis \/ Cystic Echinococcosis. <\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Other topics of regional importance have also been included:<\/p>\n<p><strong>9) Insect vectors of plant diseases; <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>10) Arthropod-borne diseases of veterinary importance;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>11) Genetically modified insects for use in agriculture, livestock, and poultry;<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>12) Vector resistance to pesticides used in Public Health;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>13) Integrating Approaches for Vector Control; and<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>14)<\/strong> <strong>Challenges and Perspectives to Address Some Neglected Diseases.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"en-GB\">Topics 1) to 14) will be addressed through the following <\/span><span lang=\"en-GB\"><b>approaches<\/b><\/span><span lang=\"en-GB\">: <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"en-GB\"><b>1. Impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, wildfires and habitat fragmentation on zoonotic and vector-borne diseases; <\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"en-GB\"><b>2. Vector biology and eco-epidemiology; <\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"en-GB\"><b>3. Vector-pathogen interaction; and <\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"en-GB\"><b>4. Vector control and surveillance including a) new surveillance and vector control alternatives, and b) insecticide resistance.<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"en-GB\">Authors must indicate the chosen <\/span><span lang=\"en-GB\"><b>topic<\/b><\/span> <span lang=\"en-GB\"><b>(1 to 10)<\/b><\/span><span lang=\"en-GB\"> and <\/span><span lang=\"en-GB\"><b>approach<\/b><\/span> <span lang=\"en-GB\"><b>(1. to 4.)<\/b><\/span><span lang=\"en-GB\"> for each abstract. The Scientific Committee may change the approach depending on the program, in which case the authors will be informed with sufficient notice.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>TURBO TALKS (Short Oral Presentations)<\/u><\/strong><strong>:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Accepted<\/u><\/strong><strong> abstracts will be presented as turbo talks (short oral presentations). <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>For this, each author must prepare a short video (5 minutes maximum) in which she\/he will explain (i.e., <em>talk about<\/em>) their work using slides. Each video must be prepared before the Congress starts (we will post the deadline shortly) because it will be uploaded to the cloud and will be available (exclusively) for participants who have registered once the congress has started and for its entire duration.<\/p>\n<p>Authors who assist <em><strong>in person<\/strong><\/em>, will be assigned a day and time for presenting their work based on the video they have sent (<strong>5 minutes maximum<\/strong>) and, at the end of the presentations programmed for that session, there will be 10-15 minutes for questions and discussion with the (in person and virtual) public.<\/p>\n<p>Turbo talk videos will be uploaded to the cloud and will be sorted according to topic. For example, 1_3_P\u00e9rez_AB.doc (abstract sent for topic 1 -Chagas-, approach 3 -Vector-pathogen interaction-, by P\u00e9rez Ana Bel\u00e9n). If the same author sends more than one abstract as first author, files must be differentiated by using consecutive numbers after the name initials and an underscore. For example, 1_3_P\u00e9rez_AB_1.doc y 1_3_P\u00e9rez_AB_2.doc<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span lang=\"en-GB\">The abstract must include (in the following order): <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px\"><span lang=\"en-GB\"><u>Title<\/u><\/span><span lang=\"en-GB\"> (Arial 12, bold): Must be centred, with a maximum of 2 lines, and only the first letter of the first word must be capitalised (except if a genus or species are mentioned). Titles that include genus or species names must not mention the genus\/species authors. Scientific names must be written in italics. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px\"><span lang=\"en-GB\"><u>Authors<\/u><\/span><span lang=\"en-GB\"> (Arial 11, underlining the presenting author): The surname must be written in capital letters, followed by a comma, the first name and second name\u2019s initial. For example, P\u00c9REZ, Ana B. Do not justify.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px\"><span lang=\"en-GB\"><u>Affiliation<\/u><\/span><span lang=\"en-GB\"> (Arial 10): Use superscripts to indicate the authors\u2019 affiliation, using consecutive numbers for different workplaces. Include the presenting author\u2019s email. Do not justify.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px\"><span lang=\"en-GB\"><u>Abstract body<\/u><\/span><span lang=\"en-GB\"> (Arial 11): Single paragraph, with single line spacing and without indentations. Do not justify. The text must include, but not indicate, the following sections: introduction, objectives, materials and methods, results and discussion\/conclusions. <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px\"><span lang=\"en-GB\">The abstract must not contain subtitles, tables, figures nor references.
