The <\/span>central theme<\/b><\/span> of the LA SOVE 2022 scientific program, <\/span>\u00ab<\/b><\/span>Control of endemic zoonotic and vector-borne, emerging and re-emerging diseases: Current challenges in Latin America<\/b><\/i><\/span>\u00ab<\/b><\/span>, includes the following neglected zoonotic and vector-borne diseases (<\/span>topics<\/b><\/span>), which are particularly relevant in Latin America: <\/span>
\n1) Chagas; <\/b><\/span>
\n2) Mosquito-borne Diseases (dengue, malaria, yellow fever, zika, chikungunya); <\/b><\/span>
\n3) Leishmaniasis; <\/b><\/span>
\n4) Tick-borne Diseases (<\/b><\/span>Rickettsia<\/b><\/i><\/span>, <\/b><\/span>Ehrlichia<\/b><\/i><\/span>, <\/b><\/span>Borrelia<\/b><\/i><\/span>); <\/b><\/span>
\n5) Viral Haemorrhagic Fevers (Hantavirus); <\/b><\/span>
\n6) Leptospirosis; <\/b><\/span>
\n7) Rabies; <\/b><\/span>
\n8) Hydatidosis \/ Cystic Echinococcosis. <\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

Other topics of regional importance have also been included:<\/p>\n

9) Insect vectors of plant diseases; <\/strong><\/p>\n

10) Arthropod-borne diseases of veterinary importance;<\/strong><\/p>\n

11) Genetically modified insects for use in agriculture, livestock, and poultry;
\n<\/strong><\/p>\n

12) Vector resistance to pesticides used in Public Health;<\/strong><\/p>\n

13) Integrating Approaches for Vector Control; and
\n<\/strong><\/p>\n

14)<\/strong> Challenges and Perspectives to Address Some Neglected Diseases.<\/strong><\/p>\n

These topics will be addressed through the following <\/span>approaches<\/b><\/span>: <\/span>
\n1. Impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, wildfires and habitat fragmentation on zoonotic and vector-borne diseases; <\/b><\/span>
\n2. Vector biology and eco-epidemiology; <\/b><\/span>
\n3. Vector-pathogen interaction; and <\/b><\/span>
